K - will be interesting to see your list in 5-10 years. I suspect it will shift toward annimated movies...much like mine would. The ratio of animated to live action movies in the past 5 years: 8:1

I vote No. I would suggest that that there are tons and tons of opportunities to help people in this country that would not require the 2-year committment.

Donnie Darko, Ninja Scroll, The Big Lebowski, Alien(s), The Shining, 6th Sense(the 1st time), The Seven Samurai & The Magnificent Seven, The African Queen, and as far as concert movies, Slayer's "war at the warfield" is fuckin bad.

Most of K's list would match mine with a few exceptions like Mad Max and Pi. I'd add:

The Jerk
Winged Migration
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Rear Window
and
Sunset Boulevard

And I'd like to second K's vote for Cinema Paradiso...probably my favorite of all time.

(PS I cried during Ernest Goes to Camp).

Tschy: Animated movies aren't usually too bad. Emperor's New Groove was great. So was the first Toy Story.

fooie, I can't believe it took you that long to remember Gangs of New York. I thought about that the instant I saw you first list.

I would sub in Ernest goes to Jail for Ernest goes to camp. It is so much funnier. It doesn't have all the cutesy kids stuff. Ernest saves Halloween is worth a rental too.

I don't believe I saw these favs:

Office Space
Army of Darkness
The Man Who Knew Too Little

any of which I could watch over and over.

Thanks for reminding me to rent Almost Famous. There's a good chance I'll see Pat Fugit at my Urban Scout class this summer. If he's there I'll try to get in his group.
