seven, out of sight, anything recent by the coen bros.(except intolerable cruelty), memento, star wars 6-ilogy, die hard triolgy, shawshank redemption, LA confidential, lord of the rings triology, pulp fiction, wild things, half-baked, Schindler's List, and of course your favorite, American Movie.
I can't think of many more, but those are some good ones.
those are in additon to some of my favs that you have listed, like matrix and Driving Miss Daisy
what is this movie:
Edukators?
I like:
Forrest Gump
Big Fish
A Beautiful Mind
Kill Bill I, but ESPECIALLY Kill Bill II
There's Something About Mary
The Godfather
It's a Wonderful Life
This is Spinal Tap
And I also like some violent-type movies:
Gladiator
Braveheart
Scarface
etc.
Goose, I really like these :
Forrest Gump
Big Fish
but not any of the others. especially NOT Kill Bill. That was a total piece of horsemarm.
I need to doubleshock LA confidential and Memento, which I don't think alot of people saw.
Pi
Blade Runner
The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
El Mariachi
Cinema Paradiso (original shorter version)
Mad Max
The Godfather I & II
Miller's Crossing
O Brother Where Art Thou?
The Straight Story
So This Is Spinal Tap
The Usual Suspects
Sweet & Lowdown
So I Married An Axe Murderer
The Graduate
Amadeus
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Schindler's List
Gladiator
Midnight Run
Its A Wonderful Life
LA Confidential
The Shawshank Redemption
The Bridge Over The River Kwai
The Manchurian Candidate (new version)
The French Connection
The Player
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
A Christmas Story
Good lists, keep it up. I am going to try and make a master list of good movies. This way, if I am ever wanting something to watch and cant think of anythign to rent, I can consult the list. You all can as well.
K - will be interesting to see your list in 5-10 years. I suspect it will shift toward annimated movies...much like mine would. The ratio of animated to live action movies in the past 5 years: 8:1
I vote No. I would suggest that that there are tons and tons of opportunities to help people in this country that would not require the 2-year committment.
weird - that last comment posted to the wrong post...I think. Should go with the Peace Corps blog.
cool hand luke, the sixth sense, all the indiana joneses,
doubleshock: unbreakable, and i should also doubleshock wild things, just for the soundtrack
how could i forget
gangs of new york
fight club
and
SLING BLADE!!!!
emmmuh!
Donnie Darko, Ninja Scroll, The Big Lebowski, Alien(s), The Shining, 6th Sense(the 1st time), The Seven Samurai & The Magnificent Seven, The African Queen, and as far as concert movies, Slayer's "war at the warfield" is fuckin bad.
Most of K's list would match mine with a few exceptions like Mad Max and Pi. I'd add:
The Jerk
Winged Migration
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Rear Window
and
Sunset Boulevard
And I'd like to second K's vote for Cinema Paradiso...probably my favorite of all time.
(PS I cried during Ernest Goes to Camp).
Tschy: Animated movies aren't usually too bad. Emperor's New Groove was great. So was the first Toy Story.
my master list of 100 movies (there are actually only 93 as i am still looking for a few more) is here
fooie, I can't believe it took you that long to remember Gangs of New York. I thought about that the instant I saw you first list.
I would sub in Ernest goes to Jail for Ernest goes to camp. It is so much funnier. It doesn't have all the cutesy kids stuff. Ernest saves Halloween is worth a rental too.
I don't believe I saw these favs:
Office Space
Army of Darkness
The Man Who Knew Too Little
any of which I could watch over and over.
Thanks for reminding me to rent Almost Famous. There's a good chance I'll see Pat Fugit at my Urban Scout class this summer. If he's there I'll try to get in his group.
finally a subject worth the cow, i saw none of these on the list never ending story, goonies, stand by me, rainman, big trouble in little china, the usual suspects,... here are a few to check out if you get time cause me likie and thats all that matters, arlington road, a murder of crows, ravenous, freeway, and the cherry to all lists, they live, i mean you take 1 part aliens, mix with 2 parts roudy roddy piper, and you have cinema gold, love windy city heat, get the hell off me
