I don't know enough about the Peace Corp to participate. You could also look into Doctors without Borders.

I say yes and no. Peace corps seems like a good idea until you get over there and are demoralized by the corruption, poverty, and fact that you aren't immune to any number of diseases over there.

my brother-in-law did it. my sister visited and had to leave b/c she was realyl sick.

otoh, if you REALLY want to, then I say yes.

the marine corps would totally smoke the peace corps.

How much more you could contribute to the world by developing your skills and mind and career ... get solid in being able to take care of yourself, then earn above what you need to live, then use your resources to help others. Truly ... TRULY .... this is the way to serve best.

Otoh ... It is your life, and you are a good man. Follow your heart and I will help where I can.

I understand pop. The problem is that the more money you make the more elaborate your lifestyle becomes. Joining the Peace Corp is not a lifetime commitment, it is a two year commitment. We will talk more about it in person. Also, if I do join, I wouldn't leave for a year.

I would think there are two-week missions trips or something like that you could go on before making a decision. Also, you might want to talk to some people who have already done it. It freaks me out, of course, but I untimately feel you should follow your heart. Just get informed first and PAY YOUR RENT!

I think you and I are alike in a lot of ways. We're both scared that we're going to wake up in 20 years and realize that we haven't done anything important with our lives. I think your focus is on people and mine is on the earth. If you go through with it, I'm sure you'll really develop as a person and inspire me in the process.

Listen to your brain, shun your heart and sign it anonymous? If one of the definitions for heart is one's innermost character, feelings, or inclinations and the essential or most vital part of something, it would be very sad to listen to your brain at the hearts expense. I wonder what, if anything, you would really have at the end of this life if you were to always listen to your brain and shun your heart. But, I must say that in this case, my heart would not want you to go, but my brain knows it's your choice. I think you have to listen to your brain, but weigh that with your heart and do that which will bring you the most happiness. What brings you the most happiness may sometimes make others unhappy, but will also contribute most to everyone else's greater happiness in the long run.
